Job Title: Legal Secretary

Job Summary
- The Legal Secretary provides essential administrative support to attorneys and legal professionals within the firm.
- This role involves managing documentation, facilitating communication, and ensuring the smooth operation of legal proceedings.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Document Management:
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, and correspondence.
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies.
- Maintain and organize case files and legal documentation, both electronic and physical.
Administrative Support:
- Schedule appointments, court dates, and meetings for attorneys and clients.
- Manage attorneys’ calendars, ensuring efficient time management.
- Answer and direct incoming calls, taking accurate messages as needed.
Client Interaction:
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders to gather information and provide updates on case progress.
- Assist clients with inquiries regarding case status and documentation requirements.
Research and Filing:
- Conduct legal research as directed and summarize findings for attorneys.
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines by monitoring case timelines and filing requirements.
Billing and Accounting:
- Assist with billing processes, including tracking billable hours and preparing invoices.
- Maintain accurate records of expenses and client billing statements.
General Office Duties:
- Maintain office supplies and equipment, ensuring the workspace is organized and functional.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by attorneys or supervisors.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment.
Skills:
- Proficient in legal terminology and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal software (e.g., [insert relevant software]).

Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 monthly.
