Job Title: Chinese Cook

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Work Schedule: Morning, afternoon and Night Shift

Job Summary

  • We are looking for a skilled and experienced Chinese Cook to join our culinary team.
  • The ideal candidate will specialize in authentic Chinese cuisine, preparing traditional and modern dishes while ensuring high quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • This role requires expertise in Chinese cooking techniques, such as wok cooking, steaming, braising, and roasting, as well as a strong understanding of Chinese flavors and ingredients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, soups, dim sum, fried rice, noodles, and roasted meats.
  • Use authentic Chinese cooking techniques, including wok frying, steaming, and braising.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared according to restaurant standards and recipes.
  • Select, measure, and prepare ingredients, including fresh vegetables, meats, seafood, and spices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, following food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Monitor and control food stock and ingredient quality, ensuring freshness.
  • Assist in menu development by suggesting new dishes or seasonal specialties.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Train and supervise junior kitchen staff when necessary.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Chinese Cook in a restaurant or hotel setting.
  • Expertise in traditional Chinese cooking techniques and ingredient preparation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong knife skills and knowledge of food safety procedures.
  • Creativity and attention to detail in food presentation.
  • Physical stamina to work long hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Culinary certification or training in Chinese cuisine is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various regional Chinese cuisines (e.g., Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, etc.) is an advantage.
