Job Title: Cook
Location: Yenagoa, Bayelsa
Main Functions
- The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to the restaurant’s menu and quality standards. The role ensures food is prepared in a timely manner, maintains kitchen hygiene, and supports efficient kitchen operations.
- The ideal candidate should be skilled in food preparation, attentive to detail, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking:
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet restaurant expectations.
- Assist in planning daily food preparation activities.
- Ensure timely preparation of meals during service hours.
Kitchen Operations:
- Support smooth daily kitchen operations.
- Ensure cooking stations are properly organized and stocked.
- Assist senior kitchen staff when necessary.
Food Safety & Hygiene:
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Follow all kitchen hygiene and safety regulations.
Inventory Support:
- Monitor food supplies and notify supervisors when stock is low.
- Minimize food wastage through proper portioning and storage.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Support colleagues during busy service periods.
Experience / Qualifications
- Minimum of SSCE, OND, or any relevant culinary training.
- 2 – 4 years experience working as a cook in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Experience preparing local and continental dishes is an advantage.
Competencies / Skills:
- Strong cooking and food preparation skills.
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
