We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Pastry Chef

Location: Yenagoa, Bayelsa

Job Summary

  • The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing and producing high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods in accordance with the restaurant’s standards.
  • The role ensures consistency in taste, presentation, and quality while maintaining proper kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
  • The ideal candidate should be creative, detail-oriented, and capable of producing a variety of pastries and desserts while working efficiently in a professional kitchen environment.

Responsibilities
Pastry & Dessert Preparation:

  • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, breads, and desserts.
  • Ensure pastries meet the required quality, taste, and presentation standards.
  • Develop and execute dessert plating and presentation.
  • Follow standard recipes and portion guidelines.

Kitchen Operations:

  • Maintain an organized and efficient pastry station.
  • Ensure proper preparation and timely production of pastries and desserts.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff to support overall kitchen operations.

Food Safety & Hygiene:

  • Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients.
  • Follow all food safety regulations and hygiene practices.

Inventory & Ingredient Management:

  • Monitor pastry ingredients and baking supplies.
  • Notify management when ingredients are running low.
  • Minimize wastage through proper portion control and storage.

Creativity & Menu Support:

  • Assist in developing new pastry and dessert ideas.
  • Contribute to improving the dessert menu when required.

Experience / Qualification

  • Minimum of OND, Culinary Certification, or relevant pastry training.
  • 2 – 4 years experience working as a Pastry Chef or Baker in a restaurant, bakery, or hospitality establishment.
  • Experience in preparing cakes, pastries, desserts, and baked goods.

Competencies / Skills:

  • Strong pastry and baking skills.
  • Knowledge of dessert preparation and presentation.
  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Attention to detail and creativity.

  • Passion for pastry and dessert preparation.
  • High level of discipline and cleanliness.
