Paragon Action on Gender and Disabilities (PAGED) Foundation is a registered non-profit, non-sectarian, and non-governmental organization headquartered in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. Established and incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on 29 July 2022 with registration number CAC/IT/No. 185274, the Foundation is committed to promoting a just, inclusive, and peaceful world by empowering persons with disabilities, women, children, and other vulnerable populations through inclusive and sustainable development initiatives.
PAGED Foundation was established in response to the persistent challenges of social exclusion, inequality, poverty, and conflict affecting marginalized communities, particularly in North-East Nigeria. We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Finance Intern
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Internship
Slot: 2 Openings
Duration: 6 Months (Renewable based on performance and organizational needs)
Reporting To: Finance/Operation Officer
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Purpose of the Position
- The Finance Intern will support the Finance Unit in day-to-day financial operations, including processing transactions, maintaining financial records, assisting in budget monitoring, and preparing financial reports.
- The role contributes to strengthening internal controls, ensuring compliance with PAGED Foundation’s financial policies, and supporting program teams with timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Processing:
- Assist in processing payments, vouchers, invoices, and receipts in line with PAGED Foundation’s financial procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
- Support petty cash management and expense tracking.
- Verify supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and supporting documents.
- Record financial transactions using QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Assist in updating financial databases and digital accounting systems.
- Ensure proper electronic and physical filing of financial documents.
Budget Monitoring:
- Assist in tracking project expenditures against approved budgets.
- Support the preparation of budget monitoring and variance reports.
- Provide financial data for project planning and implementation.
Financial Reporting:
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support donor reporting requirements by compiling financial data.
- Assist in preparing financial summaries for management review.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure adherence to PAGED Foundation’s financial policies and procedures.
- Support compliance with donor regulations and statutory requirements.
- Assist in maintaining transparency and accountability in all financial transactions.
Audit Support:
- Provide support during internal and external audits.
- Prepare and organize financial documentation required for audit reviews.
Procurement and Asset Management:
- Assist in reviewing procurement documentation and vendor invoices.
- Support compliance with procurement policies.
- Maintain and update asset and inventory registers.
Capacity Building and Learning:
- Learn and apply financial management practices under the supervision of the Finance Officer.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and organizational meetings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems.
Performance Measures
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial records.
- Proper documentation and filing of financial transactions.
- Timely support in financial reporting and audits.
- Compliance with PAGED Foundation’s financial policies and donor requirements.
- Professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma, HND, or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Basic knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or other accounting software is an added advantage.
- Prior internship or volunteer experience in finance is desirable.
