Role Overview

  • The Senior Manager, Business Development (SM-BD) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the company’s growth agenda through strategic market positioning, new business acquisition, and customer relationship management.
  • The SM-BD oversees the Business Development, Marketing, Sales, and Client Relations units, ensuring effective coordination with Technical, Finance, and Operations Divisions to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.
  • The role requires a commercially astute leader with a strong execution bias, capable of converting opportunities into measurable revenue and financing outcomes.
  • The SM-BD will lead cross-functional growth initiatives, strengthen market positioning, and ensure alignment between business development activities and overall corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with corporate goals.
  • Translate executive and board directives into actionable growth initiatives.
  • Identify new markets, sectors, and investment opportunities.
  • Provide market intelligence, competitor analysis, and strategic insights to the Executive Team.
  • Drive long-term revenue sustainability, including diversification of revenue streams through affiliate channels and strategic financing structures.

Business Development & Market Expansion:

  • Lead initiatives to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across multiple sectors.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales and opportunity pipeline that supports revenue goals.
  • Conduct market analysis to forecast trends, assess competition, and guide business decisions.
  • Drive expansion into new markets and enhance the company’s visibility and influence.
  • Develop and scale partnership-driven growth channels, including affiliate networks, with clear targets on partner acquisition, activity levels, and revenue contribution.

Sales & Revenue Growth:

  • Supervise the Sales Unit to ensure consistent achievement of revenue targets.
  • Develop pricing strategies, sales plans, and performance incentives that drive profitability.
  • Monitor sales performance and client feedback to improve service delivery and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Finance on revenue forecasting, budgeting, and margin optimization.
  • Drive measurable revenue contribution from affiliate marketing channels, including tracking conversion rates and partner performance.

Financing & Investment Sourcing

  • Lead efforts to source project financing, investment partnerships, and funding opportunities.
  • Structure and negotiate financing arrangements with investors, financial institutions, and partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with capital providers and strategic investors.
  • Support preparation of investment decks, financial models, and funding proposals.
  • Achieve defined targets for total value of funding secured, number of financing deals closed, and diversification of funding sources (debt, equity, and structured finance).
  • Affiliate Marketing & Strategic Channels
  • Develop, implement, and scale affiliate marketing programs aligned with overall revenue strategy.
  • Identify, onboard, and manage high-performing affiliates and referral partners.
  • Design commission structures and incentive systems to optimize affiliate productivity.
  • Monitor and optimize affiliate performance using data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Deliver measurable growth in affiliate-driven revenue, active partner base, and conversion efficiency across all affiliate channels.

Client Relationship Management & Partnerships:

  • Build and nurture relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Strengthen client retention strategies through excellent service delivery and consistent engagement.
  • Negotiate high-value contracts, partnerships, and joint ventures.
  • Serve as the company’s ambassador at external meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Cross-Divisional Coordination
  • Collaborate with Technical and Operations Divisions to ensure smooth execution of awarded projects.
  • Work with HR and Admin to attract, train, and retain top-performing sales and business development talent.

People & Culture:

  • Lead and inspire teams across Business Development, Marketing, Sales, and Client Relations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance.
  • Oversee capacity-building initiatives and ensure professional growth of team members.

Brand Positioning & Corporate Visibility:

  • Strengthen the company’s brand reputation and visibility through targeted marketing strategies.
  • Ensure all marketing and corporate communications align with brand identity and values.
  • Represent the company at strategic engagements, business forums, and networking events.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure all business dealings comply with internal policies, contracts, and regulatory
  • requirements.
  • Conduct due diligence on new clients, partners, and projects to mitigate business risks.
  • Uphold ethical business standards and corporate integrity across all dealings.

Performance Metrics

  • Annual revenue and profitability targets achieved.
  • Number and value of new business acquisitions.
  • Client retention and satisfaction rates.
  • Sales growth across all business units.
  • Brand visibility and market share improvement.
  • Employee engagement and retention within the BD Division.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field and a mandatory Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience: 8–10 years post-qualification experience, including at least 5 years in a senior business development or sales leadership role.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated success in closing high-value deals and strategic partnerships.
  • Proven track record in affiliate marketing with measurable revenue outcomes.
  • Proven track record in sourcing and securing financing (debt and/or equity).
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment.
