We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Business Development & Programmes

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Job Brief

  • The Head of Business Development and Programmes will drive the organization’s mandate of promoting and developing business, policy, and operational relationships across the downstream energy value chain.
  • The role is responsible for advancing the organization’s objectives through industry research, advocacy, business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) engagement, and capacity-building initiatives.
  • A key focus will be successfully planning and executing the organization’s annual flagship event.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development & Partnerships:

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow strategic relationships across the downstream energy ecosystem.
  • Identify and secure partnerships with corporates, regulators, government institutions, and development organizations.
  • Drive B2B and B2G engagement initiatives that unlock commercial and policy opportunities.
  • Lead sponsorship acquisition and partnership structuring for programmes and events.

Programme Development & Delivery:

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of programmes aligned with industry needs and organizational objectives.
  • Translate sector insights into commercially viable and high-impact initiatives
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of all flagship and supporting initiatives.
  • Ensure programmes deliver measurable impact in research, advocacy, and capacity building.
  • Track programme outcomes, impact, and stakeholder value.

Event & Flagship Initiative Management:

  • Provide strategic oversight for the planning and execution of annual programme.
  • Drive delegate acquisition, sponsorship growth, and high-level stakeholder participation.
  • Ensure excellent delivery standards and continuous growth in participation, visibility, and portfolio of industry events.

Research, Advocacy & Industry Engagement:

  • Lead industry research initiatives to generate insights that inform programmes and advocacy efforts.
  • Represent the organization in high-level industry forums, policy discussions, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Strengthen the organization’s thought leadership positioning within the downstream energy sector.

Stakeholder & Partnership Management:

  • Build and sustain relationships with key players across the downstream value chain.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to co-create impactful initiatives.
  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements and deliverables.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Revenue growth from partnerships, sponsorships, and programmes.
  • Successful execution and growth of annual event.
  • Number and quality of strategic partnerships secured.
  • Programme impact and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Team performance and delivery outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Energy Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 8–10 years of experience in business development, programme management, or a related role, preferably within the energy, events, or consulting sectors.
  • Proven track record of securing partnerships, sponsorships, and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong experience in managing large-scale industry events or conferences.
  • Deep understanding of the downstream energy sector in Africa is an advantage.
