Job Brief
- The Business Development Executive will be responsible for the implementation of day-to-day marketing, sales, and business development initiatives for the firm’s legal services, training programs, consultancy, publishing, and legal reporting.
- The BD Executive will lead efforts to expand the firm’s client base, secure strategic partnerships, manage marketing campaigns, and support thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Client Development & Revenue Generation:
- Develop and execute business strategies to grow the firm’s client base across litigation, arbitration, and corporate advisory services.
- Identify and target high-potential clients across key sectors including maritime, oil and gas, mining, renewable energy, ICT, banking, and public sector entities.
- Drive revenue growth through retainer arrangements, training enrollments, legal consultancy, and law report subscriptions.
- Prepare client proposals, EOIs, and bid responses for corporate, government, and development agency briefs.
- Conduct business development outreach via calls, referrals, and in-person engagements.
Legal Training & Publishing Sales:
- Promote the firm’s legal training programs and workshops through digital, institutional, and alumni channels.
- Drive subscription and sales of the firm’s law reports, books, and publications to libraries, institutions, law firms, and individual practitioners.
- Support logistics for training and launch events, ensuring seamless coordination and participant satisfaction.
Market Intelligence & Brand Positioning:
- Monitor changes in the legal and regulatory landscape relevant to target clients.
- Develop messaging aligned with emerging issues: regulatory compliance, ADR trends, blue economy, ESG obligations, etc.
- Create tailored marketing materials including firm brochures, thought leadership pieces, press releases, and legal newsletters.
- Work with the associates and partners to align marketing content with current practice trends.
- Represent the firm at relevant maritime and legal industry events
Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Partnerships:
- Establish relationships with key industry stakeholders: chambers of commerce, law societies, government departments, multinationals, and development institutions.
- Liaise with bar associations, maritime institutes, ADR centres, and corporate training units to promote firm services.
- Support partnership opportunities with international law firms, legal publishers, and research centres.
Digital Campaigns & CRM Management:
- Plan and execute campaigns via LinkedIn, email marketing, professional WhatsApp groups, and legal blogs.
- Manage firm’s digital presence including website updates, Google business profile, and online feedback channels.
- Maintain CRM systems and track interactions with clients, partners, and prospects.
Reporting & Market Analysis:
- Track performance metrics: client conversion rates, law report sales, training attendance, BD pipeline.
- Provide weekly/monthly performance reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Analyze gaps in firm service delivery reach and recommend new strategies or innovations.
- Identify emerging opportunities from policy changes, disputes, and industry developments.
Event Support & Representation:
- Provide on-site coordination for firm events, trainings, public lectures, and external conferences.
- Represent the firm in professional gatherings, expos, and industry panels to promote visibility and generate leads.
- Coordinate speaking engagements for the Senior Partner, partners, lawyers and authors.
Budget Oversight:
- Prepare and present marketing and BD budgets for approval, ensuring all campaigns and events are cost-effective.
- Track spending against performance to optimize ROI.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Postgraduate diploma or certification in Marketing, Client Development, or Legal Practice Management is an advantage.
- 4–6 years’ experience in business development or client relationship management in a legal or professional services environment.
- Proven track record in achieving growth, managing stakeholder relationships, anddelivering marketing campaigns.
- Experience working with law firm partners, regulators, and corporate clients.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of legal publication platforms or academic publishing is a plus
