Job Title: Dispatch Rider

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Scope

  • The Dispatch Rider is responsible for delivering meals and other items to customers promptly and professionally, ensuring adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
  • The role requires excellent time management, customer service skills, and strict adherence to food delivery protocols. The Dispatch Rider plays a crucial role in maintaining customer satisfaction through efficient and accurate delivery service.

Reporting Relationship:

  • You will report to the Head of Administration

Responsibilities
Timely and Safe Deliveries:

  • Ride the company’s motorcycle to accomplish assigned duties.
  • Deliver meals to customers promptly, ensuring:
  • Timeliness – Orders arrive on time.
  • Freshness – Meals are delivered hot or cold as required.
  • Cleanliness & Hygiene – Ensuring food is handled properly.
  • Customer Preferences – Respecting special instructions and privacy.

Order Verification & Record Keeping:

  • Verify orders before departure to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain a detailed log of deliveries, payments, and customer feedback.
  • Contact customers to verify delivery addresses if necessary.

Efficient Multi-Order Handling:

  • Manage multiple deliveries and routes effectively.
  • Prioritize high-volume or time-sensitive orders.
  • Adjust routes based on real-time traffic and weather conditions.

Customer Payment Collection & Reporting:

  • Collect cash payments for Pay-On-Delivery orders.
  • Ensure immediate handover of received payments upon return to the office.
  • Accurately report any discrepancies in payments or order issues.

Equipment & Motorcycle Maintenance:

  • Wash and maintain the food delivery bags weekly.
  • Ensure the motorcycle is kept clean and in good working condition.
  • Report any mechanical issues or accidents immediately to management.

Compliance with Safety & Security Regulations:

  • Adhere to all traffic laws and driving safety practices.
  • Ensure food delivery bags remain sanitized and organized.
  • Follow company guidelines for safe food handling and storage during transit.
  • Assist with other dispatch-related tasks as assigned.
  • Handle all TAWONA equipment, devices, and materials responsibly.

Educational Qualification and Experience:

  • Candidates should possess an SSCE, OND, or equivalent qualification with 1-3 years of experience as a Dispatch Rider or Delivery Personnel.
  • Necessary license in motorcycle operation and road safety is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in food delivery or logistics services is highly preferred.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a motorcycle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of road safety regulations and local routes.
  • Proficiency in using GPS, Google Maps, or other navigation tools.
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and handling best practices.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and driving safety guidelines.

Technical Skills, Behaviour & Competencies:

  • Arrives on time and delivers orders within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Ensures that food is delivered fresh, hygienic, and according to customer preferences.
  • Handles customer interactions with respect and professionalism.
  • Adheres strictly to traffic laws and food safety regulations.
  • Handles cash payments and company property with integrity.
  • Can work in varied weather conditions and high-pressure situations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for professional customer interaction.
  • Ability to handle customer complaints and inquiries courteously
  • Strong sense of urgency and responsibility.
  • Ability to collect payments from customers upon delivery and issue receipts.
  • Responsible for ensuring safe handling of company funds and accurate reporting

Work Environment:

  • Frequent travel on company motorcycle to various customer locations.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions such as sun, rain, and wind.
  • Fast-paced environment with multiple orders to manage at peak times.
  • Customer-facing role, requiring professionalism and good communication.
  • Collaboration with kitchen staff, sales officers, and inventory officers to ensure order accuracy and smooth deliveries.
