Job Title: Secondary Teacher
Location: Elizou, Port harcourt - Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Core Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:
- Plan lessons aligned with curriculum standards and learning objectives
- Teach subject matter using lectures, discussions, projects, and hands-on activities
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs
- Integrate technology, real-world examples, and critical thinking into lessons
Assessment & Evaluation:
- Design and grade assignments, tests, quizzes, and projects
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians
- Use data to adjust teaching strategies and identify students needing extra support
Classroom Management:
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
- Establish clear rules, routines, and expectations for behavior
- Manage student conduct and resolve conflicts fairly and consistently
- Organize classroom materials and maintain an orderly space
Student Support & Development:
- Mentor and motivate students academically and personally
- Identify learning difficulties, behavioral issues, or social-emotional needs
- Collaborate with counselors, special education staff, and parents on intervention plans
- Encourage curiosity, resilience, and independent learning
Professional & Administrative Duties:
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development
- Contribute to curriculum planning, school events, and committees
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians through reports, conferences, and emails
- Stay updated on subject matter, pedagogy, and education policy changes
Typical Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or subject field. Many roles require a teaching license / certification
- Certifications: State or national teaching credential; subject-specific endorsements for secondary teachers
- Experience: Student teaching/internship required. Some roles prefer 1–3+ years classroom experience
- Background check: Mandatory for working with minors

- Physical demands: Standing for long periods, supervising activities, some lifting of materials
Salary
N50,000 - N100,000 per month.
