Job Title: Import and Shipping Executive

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a competent and result-oriented Import/Shipping Executive to manage and coordinate all importation and shipping activities of the company.
  • The ideal candidate must possess hands-on experience in establishing Form M, processing Letters of Credit (LCs) with Nigerian financial institutions, liaising with overseas suppliers and shipping companies, and ensuring timely regulatory compliance for import transactions.
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible for minimizing import-related costs, preventing shipment losses/damages, and ensuring smooth cargo clearance processes through effective coordination with banks, regulatory agencies, and port authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and process Form M applications through the National Single Window Portal.
  • Initiate, monitor, and follow up on Letters of Credit (LC) with banks to ensure timely issuance and compliance with import requirements.
  • Liaise effectively with suppliers, shipping companies, freight forwarders, and relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Process SONCAP Certificates, PAAR, permits, and all required shipping/import documentation.
  • Ensure full compliance with Nigerian import regulations and customs procedures.
  • Track shipments and coordinate timely clearance of cargo at ports.
  • Minimize and eliminate import-related costs such as shipment losses, cargo damages, demurrage, detention, and avoidable port charges.
  • Maintain accurate records of import transactions, shipping documents, and regulatory approvals.
  • Monitor shipment timelines and proactively resolve delays or documentation issues.
  • Work closely with finance, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure efficient supply chain operations.
  • Provide regular status reports on shipments, import documentation, and related activities.

Requirements

  • HND / B.Sc. Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Shipping Management, or any related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years cognate experience in importation/shipping operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Form M, Letters of Credit (LC), PAAR, SONCAP, and Nigerian import regulations.
  • Experience using the National Single Window Portal.
  • Good understanding of shipping documentation and port operations.
  • Strong relationship management skills with banks, suppliers, shipping companies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant shipping/logistics systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
