Job Title: Senior Finance Officer (Mid Level)
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Job Summary
- The Senior Finance Officer (Mid-Level) is responsible for supporting the Company’s financial management activities, including financial reporting, project accounting, treasury operations, statutory compliance, and budget monitoring.
- The role is designed for a seasoned finance professional with strong technical competence and practical experience in project-based accounting within engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning (EPIC) environments.
- The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial records, monitoring project profitability, and providing timely financial information to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and General Ledger Management:
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
- Process journal entries and general ledger adjustments.
- Perform bank, vendor, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support year-end closing and audit processes.
Project Finance and Cost Monitoring:
- Track project expenditures against approved budgets.
- Prepare project cost reports and profitability analysis.
- Monitor revenue recognition in line with contractual milestones.
- Investigate and report budget variances.
- Support project managers with financial insights and cost controls.
Treasury and Cash Management:
- Prepare weekly cash flow reports and forecasts.
- Process approved payments to vendors and staff.
- Monitor bank balances and liquidity requirements.
- Liaise with banks on transfers, account maintenance, and related matters.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Review invoices and payment requests for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare customer invoices and monitor collections.
- Follow up on overdue receivables.
- Reconcile customer and supplier statements.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor departmental and project spend against budget.
Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
- Prepare and process statutory remittances, including PAYE, VAT, WHT, Pension, NHF, and NSITF.
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns and regulatory submissions.
- Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities when required.
Internal Control and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to company financial policies and approval limits.
- Identify control gaps and recommend improvements.
- Support implementation of robust financial controls.
Management Reporting:
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports.
- Provide financial data to support management decisions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Timeliness and accuracy of monthly management reports.
- Accuracy of reconciliations and financial records.
- Compliance with statutory remittance deadlines.
- Receivables collection performance.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance,
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is required.
Experience Requirements:
- 4–6 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
- Experience in engineering, construction, oil and gas, procurement, or project-based industries is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in project accounting and statutory compliance within Nigeria.
Technical Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Nigerian tax regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems.
Salary
N400,000 - N450,000 monthly.
