We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Safety and Compliance Senior Executive

Location: Mowe / Ibafo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • To support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental, and regulatory compliance programmes.
  • The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable statutory requirements, company policies, and industry standards while promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety Management:

  • Implement and monitor compliance with company HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct routine workplace inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Facilitate risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and hazard identification activities.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions, and prepare investigation reports with recommendations.
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive actions arising from audits and investigations.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including emergency drills and response exercises.
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Regulatory and Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Nigerian laws, regulations, permits, and industry requirements relating to health, safety, and the environment.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and advise management on compliance obligations.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections and audits by government agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain statutory registers, permits, licences, and compliance records.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports within stipulated timelines.

Training and Awareness:

  • Conduct HSE induction programmes for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Facilitate periodic HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
  • Identify competency gaps and recommend appropriate training interventions.

Audits and Performance Monitoring:

  • Participate in internal and external HSE audits and compliance assessments.
  • Track HSE performance indicators and prepare periodic reports for management review.
  • Monitor closure of audit findings and ensure timely implementation of action plans.
  • Maintain HSE documentation and records in accordance with company requirements.

Environmental Management:

  • Support the implementation of environmental management initiatives.
  • Monitor waste management practices and ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Promote environmental sustainability programmes and pollution prevention initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Liaise with departmental heads to ensure HSE requirements are integrated into daily operations.
  • Support contractor management processes to ensure contractor compliance with HSE standards.
  • Provide professional guidance on safety and compliance matters to employees and supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related Science discipline.
  • 5–10 years relevant experience in safety and compliance, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Membership of a recognised professional body such as ISPON shall be an added advantage.

Professional Certifications:

  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent.
  • ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification.
  • ISO 14001 Internal Auditor certification will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant HSE certifications from recognised institutions.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practices.
  • Understanding of applicable Nigerian HSE legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture.
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
