We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Destination Consultant
Location: Lagos
Position Summary
- The Destination Consultant will be responsible for designing, promoting, and managing travel experiences across local and international destinations.
- The role requires an individual with extensive destination knowledge, strong customer engagement skills, and the ability to create customized travel solutions that meet clients' preferences, budgets, and travel objectives.
- The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years' experience in the travel and tourism industry and demonstrate a strong understanding of destination planning, tourism products, travel regulations, and customer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Destination Planning and Advisory:
- Provide expert advice on local and international travel destinations, attractions, tourism products, and travel experiences.
- Design customized travel itineraries based on clients' preferences, budgets, and travel objectives.
- Recommend suitable destinations for leisure, family, honeymoon, educational, religious, medical, and business travel.
Holiday Packages and Tour Development:
- Develop and package attractive holiday, tour, and vacation products.
- Coordinate accommodation, transportation, excursions, sightseeing tours, and destination activities.
- Create destination-specific travel experiences that enhance customer satisfaction and value.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and ensure exceptional customer service.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special travel requests professionally.
- Maintain regular communication with clients before, during, and after travel.
Sales and Revenue Generation:
- Promote and sell destination packages, tours, cruises, excursions, and related travel services.
- Achieve assigned sales and revenue targets.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling travel products and services.
Supplier and Partner Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with hotels, tour operators, destination management companies (DMCs), airlines, and tourism boards.
- Negotiate competitive rates and value-added services for clients.
- Monitor supplier performance and service quality.
Market Research and Product Development:
- Conduct research on emerging destinations, tourism trends, and competitor offerings.
- Identify new travel opportunities and recommend innovative tourism products.
- Stay updated on visa requirements, travel regulations, health advisories, and destination-specific policies.
Reporting and Administration:
- Maintain accurate records of bookings, itineraries, customer interactions, and sales activities.
- Prepare periodic destination performance and sales reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and operational procedures.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of monthly and annual sales targets.
- Number of destination packages sold.
- Customer satisfaction rating.
- Customer retention and repeat booking rate.
- New client acquisition rate.
- Revenue generated from destination packages and tours.
- Number of new destination products developed annually.
- Supplier partnership and negotiated savings achieved.
- Response time to customer inquiries and requests.
- Booking accuracy and itinerary quality score.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' proven experience in Travel Consulting, Destination Management, Tour Operations, or Tourism Services.
- Strong knowledge of local and international travel destinations.
- Experience in itinerary planning, tour packaging, and travel sales.
- Familiarity with visa processes, travel documentation, and tourism regulations.
- Professional certifications in Tourism, Hospitality, or Travel Management will be an added advantage.
