We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Porterl (Customer Service / Security Attendant)

Location: Ilorin, Kwara 
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Store Manager
Work Schedule: Shift-based (24/7 Store Operations)

Job Summary

  • The Porter (Customer Service / Security Attendant) is responsible for maintaining an orderly, safe, and customer-friendly environment at the store entrance and exit.
  • The role involves verifying customer receipts, managing customer access, overseeing baggage drop-off procedures, directing vehicle parking, controlling queues during peak periods, and supporting the overall security and customer service operations of the store.
  • The ideal candidate must be professional, vigilant, courteous, and committed to providing an excellent customer experience while ensuring compliance with store policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify customer receipts at the exit to prevent the unauthorised removal of merchandise.
  • Manage the store entrance and ensure the orderly entry and exit of customers.
  • Politely request incoming customers to drop off bags and personal belongings at the designated baggage area in accordance with store policy.
  • Monitor and manage customer queues to maintain order and ensure smooth customer flow during busy periods.
  • Direct customers and visitors to appropriate parking spaces and ensure proper parking within the store premises.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and firm presence while interacting with customers and visitors.
  • Provide basic directions, guidance, and assistance to customers as required.
  • Remain alert and vigilant at all times, promptly reporting any suspicious behaviour, security concerns, or incidents to the Store Manager.
  • Uphold company policies and contribute to a safe, secure, and welcoming shopping environment.

Requirements
Education:

  • Minimum of SSCE / WAEC or equivalent qualification.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in retail security, customer service, crowd management, or a related role is an added advantage but not mandatory.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and confidently with customers.
  • Strong observational and situational awareness skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage large customer volumes.
  • Good customer service orientation.
  • High level of honesty, integrity, and accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and professionalism.

Additional Requirements:

  • Company-provided uniform must be worn at all times while on duty.
  • Must be physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and overnight shifts where required.

Compensation & Benefits
Monthly Compensation:

  • Base Salary: N50,000 / month
  • Allowance: N10,000
  • Performance Bonus: N10,000
  • Total Monthly Compensation: N70,000

Additional Benefits:

  • Free accommodation for employees who are not based in Ilorin or who reside far from the store location.
  • Company-provided uniform at no cost to the employee.
