Job Title: 3PL Truck Sourcing Officer
Location: Lagos
About Role
- To identify, negotiate, and secure third-party logistics trucks to meet the company’s transportation and distribution requirements. The role ensures timely truck availability, cost optimization, and the development of a reliable network of transport vendors to support efficient logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and onboard third-party (3PL) trucks in line with operational and dispatch schedules
- Build and maintain strong relationships with transport companies and independent truck owners
- Negotiate competitive haulage rates to ensure cost efficiency without compromising service quality
- Ensure timely deployment of trucks for scheduled pick-ups and deliveries
- Develop and maintain an updated database of approved truck vendors and transport partners
- Liaise daily with transport providers to confirm truck availability, capacity, and readiness
- Monitor market trends in haulage rates, truck availability, and logistics operations
- Prepare and submit regular reports on sourcing activities, vendor performance, and market intelligence
Requirements
- Candidates should possess an OND, HND, or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or related field
- 1–2 years of experience in truck sourcing, logistics coordination, or transport operations
- Existing network of transport companies and truck owners is a strong advantage
- Proven experience in negotiation, vendor management, and cost control
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Excellent communication, persuasion, and relationship-building skills
- Good knowledge of Lagos haulage market, routes, and transport trends
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability under pressure
- Proficiency in MS Excel and logistics tracking tools
