Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Malete, Kwara State

Responsibilities

• The University Librarian, a Principal Officer, responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the Administration of the University Library and coordination of all Library Services in the University especially Collection Management and Development. (i.e. in the Main Library and Libraries across all campuses of the University).
• He/She has custody of all Library materials, including but not limited to books and printed items, manuscripts, archival material, etc and ensures that the University Library stays abreast of current technological developments and adopts those technologies most appropriate for the University Library.
• As an academic staff, the University Librarian will be required to provide both Academic and Administrative Leadership to staff in the University Library.

Qualification and Experience
Candidates for the position of University Librarian Kwara State University should possess at least a minimum higher degree of Masters in Library and Information Science with fifteen (15) years of cognate experience. Possession of a Doctorate Degree will be added advantage. Candidates are also required to have substantial scholarly publications in reputable journals and must be member of the following:

• Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria
• Nigeria Library Association
• Committee of University Librarians

Remuneration
The successful candidate will be entitled to the salary and other conditions of service as are applicable to the University Librarian in a Federal University in Nigeria.

Tenure
The duration of appointment of University Librarian is for a single term of five (5) years- in the first instance with eligibility for re-appointment for a second and final term of five (5) years.
