Why is Jobberman.com Copying Hotnigerianjobs.com Job Adverts Free, and Asking JobSeekers to Pay Money?

Posted on Thu 04th Apr, 2013 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (139 comments)

It is not a hidden thing that 95% of Nigerian Job Adverts you see on other jobsites and forums are copied from Hotnigerianjobs.com. We post the jobs while others copy. But we are not bothered, we are bothered only when some websites like Jobberman.com copy our job adverts free, remove the application details and ask JobSeekers to pay money to apply.  Jobberman.com has over 4 times our staff strength with millions of investor's funds at their disposal. Hotnigerianjobs.com has only 13 staff with enough funds keeping her afloat.

We are crying out loud because Jobberman.com is cheating us. They are copying all our job adverts with impunity. They have the staff strength and financial capacity to source for job adverts the way we are sourcing for our own adverts, instead they are depending on us to supply them the job adverts without any gainful return.

We release our job adverts in the morning, by evening all our job adverts are in the Jobberman.com database. We decided to be hiding a phrase "Copied from: www.hotnigerianjobs.com" in some of our job adverts. When Jobberman.com copy's our job adverts, they always remove the phrase but in some rare cases they are blind in removing it, and we hold it as evidence.

See the evidence below:

We have over 200 of these links with Copied from: www.hotnigerianjobs.com but we are just releasing a dozen links.

Note: When you open the link, look carefully for Copied: www.hotnigerianjobs.com

Update: Expectedly, Jobberman.com has removed the evidence in their pages, but we captured the screen images of the pages before we published this post. See them below:

Some will ask, why is Hotnigerianjobs.com not hiding her job application details. It is our policy to publish and make every job application detail free.  So that JobSeekers will have the power to apply and know who and where they are applying to, instead of hiding the details and applying on their behalf.  What if the application did not go through, just like the recent Aero Contractors Airline Recruitment which the email was not going, how will a Job Seeker know that his/her application at the Job Board was not through or entered spam folder, and whole lot of other cases.  Sometimes, we publish job adverts from reputable companies with free email services like Yahoo, Gmail, etc as the application email, some applicants will call the job adverts Scam Advert, but if we hide the details, how will they know the email they are applying to.

We at Hotnigerianjobs.com want to make it clear that we are not against Jobberman.com subscription services, because it is their strategy to sustain their businesss, but we are against copying our Job adverts free, removing the application details and collecting subscription on the adverts, it is anti-competition and we also feel sabotaged.  Infact, Jobberman.com did what a good number of Jobsites lacked courage to do. All over the world, employers pay to advertise jobs and even pay head-hunters for providing skilled workers to them, but in Nigeria Jobberman.com has turned it the other way round and it is working for them, so they most be wizards to pull that out.

Definitely, I know Jobberman.com will remove our evidence from their database once they read this post. So, if you confirm it, just indicate in the comment below.

Editor's Note: I want to make one thing clear, we did not publish this post to blackmail or malign Jobberman.com. Jobberman.com is copying our job adverts in such a way that suggested they are out to sabotage and undermine our efforts, how can you on a daily basis copy all our job adverts from A to Z while you locked-up your own job adverts, nobody copy's you.  To us it is anti-competition. To show we are not out to blackmail Joberman.com, this post has not seen our Front Page and we have not sent it to any online news blogs or main stream media houses, we only sent it to our mailing list. We only want Jobberman to play the game fairly (Jobberman has the capacity to do their business in a fair manner). They know what they are doing is wrong, and we expected them to do the needful by apologising to us and promise not to copy us again (Damage Control) so that we take-down this post and let the sleeping dog lie.  They should take  a cue from other bigger companies around the world that had been in a similar situation and how they handled such issues. If we don't hear from them, by next week, we are going to escalate this issue to the main steam media and make it a national issue. I know it will be diasasterous to their image and reputation, and we don't want to do it.  Even though Jobberman.com has deleted our evidence from their database, we have Google Cache images and text of the pages, and a lot of other evidence.

Many commenters want us to sue Jobberman.com but for now we don't have such intention because we consider it as a distraction to our business.

Jobberman.com hide their application details, making it difficult for other jobsites to copy them, so they should not copy others.  Even copying their Job Summaries is an issue as you can see from these posts:

Jobberman To Third Party Sites: "Stop Pulling Our Jobs Or We’ll Block You!"

About 54% Do Not Support Jobberman Blocking Njorku [SURVEY]

Well, I rest my case.

sorry u guys feel hurt (jobseekers still using jobberman).

I have long diverted all their mails to my spam folder... lolz!!!

Of what use are vacancies sent to your box that you can't view the details?

Besides, once someone starts asking for money from jobseekers... something is fundamentally wrong.

The mission statement and the core values of any organization determines the modus operandi of such organization and to a large extent, the survival of such organization. From the available facts, it is clear that the mission statement of Jobberman.com is to exploit and steal from already frustrated Nigeria job seekers and as desperate as they are, their strategy is also to steal from other hardworking organizations like HotNigerianjobs.com to achieve their satanic and self centered aim. My candid advice to Jobberman.com is to come out and apologise to Hotnigerianjobs.com and Nigerians for their fraudulent act and thereafter make amend and do the right thing. Destruction awaits every fraudsters and pretends sabbortaging our economy and exploiting our Unsuspecting unemployed youths. Repent now! 419 does not pay! A word is a enough for the wise!

While condemning Jobberman for copying from HNs, care should be taken to ensure that HNJs do not land itself in trouble waters if an attempt to sue them is made. The reason been that the various adverts are not owned by HNJs but various companies adopt HNJs website to reach out to the public of jobberman is qualified to be a recipient. In any case, i condemn in strong terms the aspect of jobberman extorting money from poor job seekers, if these companies give out their jobs free of charge. I rest my case.

It is quite obvious that Jobberman has erred on many fronts. I for one never saw any great benefit to their service that will warrant paying any fees.

Thank God for sites like HNJ offering the adverts free, may God continue to bless them. However we must tell ourselves some truths; Most Nigerians are used to getting things (in various spectres of life) for free, feeling that it is their right to get premium services at no cost - though this might seem be possible now but I doubt its sustainability in the long run. We need to move from the culture of 'free' to the culture of 'value', meaning that we should see the value a service/product presents and be willing to commit resources to acquire the service/product for our own benefit. We need to stop the apparent falsehood that jobless graduates do not have anything they can spare or sacrifice for their own good, afterall they still find ways to load their phones, buy snacks once in a while, etc

So back to jobberman, they simply failed to show the x-factor of their service to the majority and thus could not possibly demand fees for what is not seen to be valuable......

At first, I really liked jobberman because they sent me jobs related to my skills, experience and qualifications while hotnigerianjobs did not.

I got my present job through hotnigerianjobs after I encountered so many scam jobs through jobberman.
In one of the scam experiences I had, the employer claimed to be an emerging tertiary institution. I was excited to go for the interview. On getting to the place, it was a shabby primary school somewhere in Agege. The test questions for the interview had the title as-computer science/mathematics teacher-after I had applied for the post of a Graduate Assistant. After the test, we were asked to submit our passport photographs and for those that didn't have, a photographer was called in and people were extorted because that day was a public holiday plus it was during a festive period which meant that photographers would be scarce. Anyway, some days later, I received a text message from the so called institution (Cornall) stating that I had been scheduled for an oral interview and I was to come with about 1000 naira or more, of course I wasn't that desperate, so I just ignored it. This is just one of many experiences.

I also know very well that jobberman doesn't ask for money from job seekers alone, employers pay too. We had to pay recently in my company for some job advertisements.

My point is-how am I going to afford to pay to see job advertisements when I don't have the means to raise money and why will I pay to see a job advertisement I am not sure is real, when I can get the real and free thing from another site?

I would suggest you escalate it, make it known to the general public and claim damages from jobberman.com for this act. As for other job sites, who do not collect money from job seekers can be pardoned. I'm one of Jobberman subscribers but I don't open its mails since I noticed it hides some important information from its subscribers asking for money before they are disclosed. I want to use this opportunity to say thank you to Hotnigeriajobs.com in whose platform I got a job in a bank, thank you!

Hotnigerianjobs.com shouldn't waste a time to suing those thieves to a court. if you need Lawyers, you've got enough in house here. Just make the move and see the stream of supports. I personally detest those Robbermen. What they are doing is simply unfair, and they deserve an unfair measure as a pay back in return. Please, HOT9JAJOBS, do some thing, if you are ready contact me via my Email. Lets take those dogs to where they belong.
