Centenary City PLC is a new company established through a wholly private-sector effort and funding to develop, operate and own the Centenary City in Abuja, Nigeria.

We are seeking outstanding persons to appoint into the following executive position:

Job Title: Managing Director

Job Description
  • The Managing Director will be the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors for the overall management of the company.
  • The Managing Director will guide, direct and lead the Executive  Management Team, which will include the Projects Development Director, Director of Finance. Head of Marketing and Sales and Head of Human Resource and Corporate Services.
Responsibilities
  • Provide the linkage between the Board and the Executive Management Team, and accept full responsibility as well as embody and drive the vision, mission and goals of the company.
  • Assist the Board of Directors in setting strategic goals, objectives, budgets, policies, and procedures to enhance the company’s profitability and returns on investments.
  • Provide advice, guidance, direction and authorization to- the Executive Management Team to carry out approved company plans consistent with established policies.
  • Conduct routine strategic reviews of performance to determine whether the company is meeting its short, medium and long-term objectives.
  • In concert with the Executive Management Team, develop and implement an integrated business plan that optimizes profitability and returns on investments in the component projects.
  • Set high - level goals, objectives and plans for the respective departments and work with them on attaining such goals by closely monitoring their operations.
  • Review the operating results of the company and compare them to established objectives and goals, and follow-up to ensure that appropriate measures are taken as may be necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications throughout the company to ensure that the functions and responsibilities of all executives are clearly defined and understood
  • Conduct periodic review of the performance of the Executive Management Team and recommend remedial action and improvements
  • Promote the company's direction and momentum.
  • Act as the principal public relations officer of the company and represent the company in dealings with stakeholders such as major development partners, major clients, government entities, the financial community, and the public.
  • Ensure development of an effective organizational structure and the promotion of a positive internal climate for effective management performance and development, including succession planning
  • Delegate requisite authority and responsibilities to appropriate executives in order to ensure smooth running of the company.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisal for all executives.
  • Monitor the adherence of employees to guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Recruit, develop, manage and motivate executives and employees reporting to him or her.
Requirements
  • A good University degree, and preferably also a Graduate degree, in Science, Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration or Social Sciences, followed with a minimum of 20 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Extensive executive-level management experience of at least 10 years.
  • Extensive -business development, construction management, banking, or real estate industry experience of at least five years.
  • Strong visionary with proven leadership qualities and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Political and cross cultural awareness.
  • Ability to select, develop and motivate necessary management talent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a professional of unquestionable integrity, credibility, and character.
