Come to think of it, why would FCSC peg employment age in Nigeria at 20-25,a country where one has to struggle for so long to be educated. Do they think we are in Europe where somebody's life is pre-planned to go to school at the appropriate time, get a job at the appropriate time, get married at the appropriate time and so on? Does it mean that the large population of the youth that have crossed that age not even by their own fault, because some qualified have even sought employment for years in vain, are to be left to get to their old without any hope while few lucky new breeds with godfathers are glorified with the jobs? But I see men and women of 50 to 60 still doing messengers work in the ministry. If we are not deceiving ourselves, I think we should do away with this age barrier and let the natural barrier of physical incapacitation due to old age be the case so that youth in their 40s can still have a chance. The only area I see age count so much is that which demands so much physical strength as in the case of foot soldiers. We must prioritise our unique challenges as a people in setting such standards.
