Federal Ministry of Younth Decelopment - Following the approval of His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and in line with youth empowerment programme thrust under the Transformation Agenda of Mr. President, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) in conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invite applications from suitably qualified young Nigerians to participate in the Junior Professional Officers’ Programme (JPO-P) 

The Junior Professional Officers’ Programme (JPO-P) was established in 1963 to provide young professionals pursuing a career in development with hands-on experience in multilateral technical cooperation. It is funded with donations from donor countries. Currently, there are 19 sponsors comprising 16 countries from Europe and 3 from Asia. The programme is administered by the JPO Service Center in Copenhagen. Denmark and initially for one year with possibility of extension for another one year, depending on satisfactory performance making a total of two years objective of the programme

Objective of the WHO Programme/Department:

The goal of WHO in mainstreaming Gender, Equity and Human Rights is to support Headquarter clusters and regional units to address the underlying social and economic determinants of health through policies and programmes that enhance health equity and integrate pro-poor, gender-responsive and human rights based approaches. Objective 1:
To improve WHO staff and member state's awareness, knowledge and skills on gender, equity and human rights more specifically on issues such as organizational change, programme and policy development, equity and gender based analysis of health data.

Objective 2:
Increase the number of WHO countries and member states that effectively implement GER responsive interventions through the setup of systematic planning, monitoring and accountability mechanisms; and,

Objective 3:
To improve health outcomes and increase the number of countries policies and programmes that address Gender Equality, Equity and Human Rights issues through direct technical support to countries using flagship programmes such as the UNSG Strategy on Women's and Children's Health as entry points.

Assignment Summary:

Under the supervision of the Team Leader for Gender, Equity and Human Rights, the JPO assist in developing internal and external communications products, including reports, proposals, and all documents as determined by the team leader, and has supports the implementation of the communications strategy, including department website, social media and other communications tools and products.

Duties, Responsibilities and Output expectations
Specifically, the JPO will:
  • Assist in developing and implementing a communications strategy, aligned with the overall mandate of the GER team. Create communication content (written, photos, and data) including, but not limited to reports, proposals, charts, analysis documents, and others as needed by the department.
  • Work with team on improving or optimizing content for distribution.
  • Suggest content (including photo galleries, stories, videos, infographics) for the purpose of distribution. Manage communications activities from beginning to end
  • Analyze and report on outreach and impact of communications activities
  • Develop intranet page and external websites into a robust and effective tool, including icons representing UNSWAP indicators
  • Manage content and promotions on the website and ensure that website information is current and accurate.
  • Work with Regional offices to develop web pages for effective communication with focal points across the organization, developing key messages and effective strategies to reach across the organization
  • Build innovative and engaging social media programs
  • Oversee Social Media efforts to ensure department goals are being met
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:

  • Minimum: Advanced university degree or college degree in Marketing, communications, Business, or Writing required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent IT communications skills
Work experience:
