Job Title: Tax Accountant

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Description: POSITION: Tax Accountant
Reporting Relationships:
Direct Superior: Chief Accountant, Financial Accountant

Job Relationships: Unit Accountants, Cashiers

Responsibilities:
1.) Monitor and drive the day-to -day activities of the following taxes and implement statutory demands –Taxes, Pensions, NHIS, ITF, Levies, etc - of the company.
2.) Ensure proper, accurate, timely and relevant financial records are maintained.
3.) Local tax administration and related matters.
4.) Maintain and update the data base of the company on all tax matters
5.) Ensure that there are duly authorized documentary approvals for every data that is to be entered into the as per tax matters.
6.) Prepare schedules for remittances of statutory deductions and ensure accurate posting to the relevant ledgers and beneficiaries.
7.) Prepare the Payroll/ manpower budget of the company in liaison with the Human Resources department.
8.) Ensure the observance of company procedures in Payroll administration, accounting and documentations.
9.) Cultivate and maintain good inter-personal relationship with colleagues within and outside the department.
10.) Ensure the financial information asset of the company is well protected, preserved with confidentiality and available to the right people at the right format and time.
11.) Ensure accurate and organized filing system for all documents.
12.) Ensure accurate and timely preparation of reports.
13.) Mentor and develop subordinates on the statutory accounting processes and procedures of the company.
14.) Ensure that transparency, honesty and accountability are embedded in own area of business.
15.) Coordinate all aspects of Health and Safety and Fire Safety in the area of responsibility.
16.) Participate in daily tool box meeting and weekly communication and review meetings with colleagues.
17.) Other duties as assigned.

• Monthly PAYE remittance and analysis Report
• Pension Returns and status Report
• With-Holding Tax Credit Status Report
• With –Holding Tax remittances Report
• Input and Output VAT remittances report
• Education tax remittance
• Company Income tax calculation
• Others as may be needed

Qualification and Experience:

• BSc/HND from a reputable institution with a minimum of second class upper/Upper credit
• A professional qualification eg ACA; ACCA; CITA etc (Possession of an MBA is an added advantage.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position or audit firm experience.

Age: Not more than 35 years old
