Job Purpose
To plan and coordinate factory operations effectively to meet production plans and ensure that factory equipment, personnel, environment, raw and pack materials alongside finished products meet required GMP standard.

Responsible to the Manufacturing Manager:
Quality Manager; Store Manager; Maintenance Managers; Production Control Manager and Planners.
Internal & External Relationships:

Collaborates with the Planning team in delivering the weekly agreed supply plan.
Works closely with the quality control team, the procurement team, store team and Distribution centre to ensure the agreed plan is delivered within budget.

Ensuring that the personal care factory operates according to world class standards-safety, training, TPM, Housekeeping, Plant utilization, etc.
Writing and updating key SOPs and getting these signed-off by the HOM whenever necessary. Also ensuring that sections/ units operate in accordance with laid down SOPs.
Training his team members whenever necessary and ensuring effective skill development throughout the shift.
Ensuring Proper documentation of all key KPI’s, including training records.
.Ensuring that necessary templates for monitoring plant output and other performance criteria are updated regularly by the team.
Checking all aspects of wastages and losses which impact negatively on departmental overheads and offering corrective actions to mitigate these.
Championing Margin improvement activities in the department.
Driving strict safety procedures through the shifts and ensuring that people do not cut corners in their day to day operation..
Ensuring regular updating of event log sheet and enforcing corrective actions to address issues arising from tower operation on a timely basis.
Responsible for the implementation of the management systems in the department.
Key Accountability: Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OH&SE)
Key Activities:
Ensure safe behavioural at work place around and be aware of the hazards in the workplace, and the control measures to reduce the risk associated with those hazards.
Ensure an appropriate departmental safety audit is successfully completed every month to identify gaps and close same.
To maintain procedures especially of potential emergencies peculiar to process operations to enable quick response to emergency situation if it occurs, and minimize its impact on the Health and Safety of employees, Contractors, other stakeholders and the environment.
Ensuring immediate reporting of all incidents involving or potentially involving injury to persons, damage to property or environment.
Ensure co-ordination of factory safety activities
Performance Indicators:
Zero loss time accident
Risk assessment register of all identified risk.
Record of monthly departmental safety audit report followed by action plan drawn to mitigate all identified gaps.
Provision of relevant emergency procedures.
Closure of incident reporting forms (blank and sample of already generated ones).

To ensure effective and efficient coordination of Production processes to meet and deliver production target and meeting all specified quality standards.
Key Activities:
Ensure proper interplay/management and effective planning of also effective utilization of all resources provided to achieve business goals.

Ensure proper co-ordination of materials and labour towards achieving production plan.
Ensure waste of raw/packaging materials are well controlled

Key Accountability: Continuous improvement, communication and employee relations
Key Activities:
Ensure effective problem solving using appropriate lean manufacturing techniques, generate and implement corrective actions, containments to deliver identified continuous improvement.
Ensures communication of company information to all employees in Business unit team.
Performance Indicators:
Training of team members on relevant Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Visibility of the communication of information on notice board and through other means such as intranet (among others).
Key Accountability:
To prepare reports to account for the factory monthly production performance.
Key Activities:
Ensure that all reports regarding production activities are accurately prepared.
Ensure variance report is prepared.
Regular meetings with production supervisors and team to review monthly production performance.
Performance Indicators:
Weekly actual production plan against proposed.
Weekly cycle count and monthly material usage
Key Accountability:
Managing team and individual performance through regular reviews, monitoring objectives and ensuring development needs are identified and actioned
Key Activities:
Ensure each team member has an active development plan, which is reviewed as a minimum, on a periodic basis (bi-annual and monthly informal reviews)
Set realistic yet challenging objectives throughout the year for both the team and each individual whilst making sure that the objectives are SMART
