Job Title: Senior Technical Advisor, Care & Treatment & Kano State Team Lead

Job Overview
Senior Technical Advisor will report to DCOP, will provide technical and managerial leadership (thematic lead) in the provision of quality services that meet global and national standards in HIV prevention (including PrEP), treatment, care, and reproductive/family planning services.
He/she will take lead in planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on HIV prevention activities and establish linkages between communities and health services.
He/she will train and mentor project staff, health care providers, and consortium partners to provide high-quality HIV, RH/FP services including screening and referral of identified clients with cancer of the cervix.
S/he will be responsible for the development/adaptation of guidelines, standard operating procedures, and deployment of appropriate, safe, and ethical models of care that would efficiently achieve results while maintaining program fidelity.
The STA will provide direct support to government officials to design and implement activities/programs that would ensure the provision of resilient and sustainable HIV and RH programs.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership in HIV Care and Treatment (C&T)
Developing evidence-based strategies along the continuum of HIV care for the program with support from DCOP
Promoting innovative programming in C&T across USAID-ACE programs
Supporting clinical service delivery and mentoring teams in the design and implementation of innovative C&T interventions/ models and strengthening of HIV C&T components in current programs under the strategic direction of DCOP
Providing technical assistance, training, and mentoring to support USAID-ACE supported sites in C&T
Developing comprehensive training materials, SOPS, and tools for HIV model clinics and systematically updating technical and other staff on HIV C&T
Supporting building organizational capacity for C&T
Support DCOP in the representation of ACE in working groups related to HIV C&T
Work with the DCOP to support the identification of priority research and evaluation to document the outcomes and impact of HIV C&T programs.
Support documentation of program experiences in HIV C&T as well as enhanced knowledge sharing to internal and external audiences around USAID-ACE program experiences including publishing in peer-review journals
Requirements and Qualifications
Medical Degree (MB.BS / MBChB / MB)
Possession of an MPH or post graduate clinical or public health degree is required
Minimum of 10 years experience working in the health or developmental field in Nigeria with at least 5 years’ progressive experience working in the PEPPAR HIV response
Proven experience in project development, Planning and facilitating technical training with extensive knowledge and skills for the application of differentiated service delivery
Familiarity with the Nigeria public sector health system and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable
Abilities:
Ability to analyze and use site-level granular data to identify gaps, develop remedial action plans to improve services delivery
Clinical management and training experience and ability to understand the full range of issues around the clinical management of HIV/AIDS/TB, including the provision of ART
Proven ability in supervising staff
Extensive clinical experience in the care of HIV infected adults and children in resource-poor settings
Skills:
Excellent oral and report writing and presentation skills.
Proven ability to write high quality scientific/management documents
Excellent collaboration and partnering skills in a teamwork environment
Proficient use of Microsoft office for documenting and reporting
Proficient use of data management and analytic tools.
