Data Engineering Lead at Migo Money Inc

Migo is a cloud-based platform that enables companies to offer credit to their consumer and small business customers. Leveraging proprietary datasets, Migo builds ML algorithms to assess credit risk, and then offers credit lines to the companies’ customers. This credit line can be used to make purchases from a merchant or to withdraw cash without the need for point-of-sale hardware or plastic cards. Because of our proprietary data and innovative technical solutions, Migo is able to extend credit to underbanked customers who are not typically covered by credit bureaus.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Data Engineering Lead

Location: Lagos

What you will do

• We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Engineering Lead to join our team.
• The Data Engineering Lead will be responsible for overseeing the architecture and management of our data systems and building a formidable team of data scientists. They will play a crucial role in ensuring that data is stored, processed, and utilised effectively.
• This position can be worked remotely from anywhere in Nigeria!

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience building production-quality software infrastructure
• A strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile development environments
• An established record of managing the execution of data engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget, and quality standards
• Ability to own and deliver on large, multi-faceted projects with little guidance.

You are a good fit if you have:

• Experience developing Extract, transform, and load (ETL) and Extract, load, and transform (ELT) jobs
• Fluency in SQL and experience with relational database management systems
• Demonstrated experience in technical leadership roles within the financial services or credit bureau industries
• Fluency in Python data tools e.g. Pandas, Dask, or Pyspark
• Familiarity with NDPR and Nigerian data residency requirements
• Experience working on large-scale, distributed systems
• Experience designing and building big data pipelines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
