Media and Communication Consultant and Capacity Building Consultant at Society for the Rights of the Excluded and Disempowered (SOREX Nigeria)

Posted on Fri 19th Apr, 2024 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

Society for the Rights of the Excluded and Disempowered (SOREX Nigeria) envisions a world where people have safe spaces to engage peacefully and effectively in making decisions that affect their own lives. As an organization, we are committed to promoting inclusive access to livelihood and productive resources for indigenous women, migrants and other vulnerable populations. We are currently providing assistance to women affected by forced displacement – including Cameroonian refugees and their host community counterparts in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the positions below:

1.) Media and Communications Consultant, Joint Advocacy Action for WPS-HA Agenda

2.) Capacity Building Consultant, Data Insight for Gender-Inclusive Humanitarian Action

Locations: Takum, Taraba and Ogoja, Cross River
Employment Type: Short-term
Consultancy Type: Local Consultant
Deadline / Commencement: As soon as the right candidates are selected

Background
Society for the Rights of the Excluded and Disempowered (SOREX) is implementing a program to support economic and political participation of women affected by forced displacement, with support from Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF). Within the last 2 years, the organization has mobilized and engaged with state and non-state humanitarian actors – including other women-focused CSOs who are leading crisis response at local, national and regional levels.

Having successfully used collaborative data processes to catalyze political will to institutionalize gender-responsive humanitarian action, the organization now intends to promote the good practice through a peer learning with other humanitarian actors – particularly women-led CSOs and state actors working in crisis settings.

Following her participation in the Global Women’s Forum held in Berlin, Germany in May 2023, the organization convened the African Feminist Organizations in Humanitarian and Emergency Response (AfricaFOrHER), and also intends to conduct a regional advocacy action to complement WPHF’s global advocacy efforts in promoting WPS-HA Agenda and the Berlin Declaration. The overarching objective of the advocacy is to advance gender-transformative localization of humanitarian program cycle management, including its data-informed planning processes and funding structures at regional and country levels.

As part of this joint advocacy action, SOREX will identify and document Feminist Humanitarian Innovators (FHI), so as to promote their expertise to a global audience through multiple online channels as well as through an in-person advocacy engagement with international and regional humanitarian policy makers.

The estimated outcome of the advocacy initiative is improved recognition and inclusion of women’s agenda and expertise in high-level humanitarian program decision-making processes, including its design, funding, implementation and review.

In view of the foregoing, Society for the Rights of the Excluded and Disempowered (SOREX) is looking for experienced and self-motivated candidates to fill the following short-term consultancy positions:

  • Media and Communications Consultant, Joint Advocacy Action for WPS-HA Agenda
  • Capacity Building Consultant, Data Insight for Gender-Inclusive Humanitarian Action.
