Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Warehouse Supervisor to manage the daily operations of our warehouse in Nigeria.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in warehouse operations, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized warehouse.
As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing inventory control, supervising warehouse staff, and ensuring smooth operations to meet business and customer demands.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Staff Management:
Lead and supervise a team of warehouse associates, ensuring smooth operations of all daily tasks.
Delegate work, monitor staff performance, and provide training on warehouse operations, safety, and best practices.
Manage attendance, shifts, and timekeeping to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times.
Conduct regular team meetings to provide updates, address concerns, and promote a positive work environment.
Identify opportunities for staff development and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Inventory Control and Management:
Oversee the receipt, storage, and shipment of goods to ensure proper inventory management.
Ensure accurate stock counts through regular cycle counts and inventory checks, minimizing discrepancies.
Maintain proper stock labeling, barcoding, and documentation to ensure inventory is easily traceable.
Monitor stock levels, manage reordering, and ensure that inventory is in alignment with operational needs.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and discrepancies reported by warehouse team members.
Warehouse Operations and Organization:
Supervise day-to-day warehouse activities, including receiving, sorting, storing, and dispatching goods.
Ensure that all goods are stored in an organized and systematic manner to optimize space and efficiency.
Optimize warehouse processes to improve productivity, minimize downtime, and ensure smooth flow of goods.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and proactively address safety concerns in the warehouse.
Maintain warehouse housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free working environment.
Shipping and Receiving Coordination:
Supervise the receiving and inspection of incoming goods, ensuring the correct items are received as per the purchase orders.
Coordinate the timely dispatch of goods to customers, ensuring all orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately.
Work closely with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Ensure all shipping and receiving documentation (e.g., waybills, invoices, purchase orders) is complete and accurate.
Track shipments and resolve issues related to transportation or delivery delays.
Process Improvement and Reporting:
Monitor the performance of warehouse operations and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Implement and enforce best practices to improve warehouse workflow and reduce errors.
Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports to the Warehouse Manager, detailing operational efficiency, inventory levels, and any issues.
Collaborate with the management team to develop strategies for optimizing warehouse processes and improving service delivery.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that the warehouse operates in compliance with Nigerian health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, LASEPA guidelines).
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Provide safety training to all warehouse staff, emphasizing safe handling, lifting, and use of warehouse equipment.
Ensure the proper use and maintenance of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
Address any accidents or incidents in the warehouse promptly, conducting investigations and reporting findings as necessary.
Qualifications Experience and Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent; a Degree or Certification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is an advantage.
3 - 5 years of experience in warehouse management or logistics, with at least 1 - 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in managing a diverse team.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
In-depth knowledge of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and shipping.
Proficiency in using warehouse management software (WMS), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and other inventory systems.
Knowledge of Nigerian regulations relating to warehouse management, health and safety standards, and logistics.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Problem-solving skills and ability to manage unexpected situations effectively.
Preferred:
Familiarity with Nigerian local logistics providers and customs procedures (for imported goods).
Experience with ERP systems or advanced warehouse management software.
Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50kg) regularly.
Ability to stand, walk, and be on your feet for extended periods.
Ability to work in varying temperatures, including hot and humid conditions typical of warehouse environments.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position, with regular hours that may vary depending on business needs.
May require occasional overtime or weekend work during peak seasons or special projects.
The work environment may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying warehouse conditions.
