Job Title: People & Culture Lead
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Managing Director / Head of Operations
Role Overview
You will lead all aspects of human resources - from recruitment and onboarding to culture, compliance, performance, and talent development - supporting diverse teams that include engineers, creatives, field staff, and administrative professionals.
This role requires someone who can think strategically, implement efficiently, and adapt across multiple business models and maturity levels.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Team Building:
Develop and execute tailored hiring strategies for different business units (e.g., tech, sales, project teams).
Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job scoping, sourcing, interviewing, and offer negotiation.
Design structured, role-specific onboarding programs to reduce time-to-productivity.
HR Systems & Operations:
Implement and manage HRIS platforms to digitize employee records, leave, and performance data.
Maintain accurate documentation for all HR processes in line with labor law and internal policy.
Collaborate with finance on payroll inputs and staff benefits (HMO, pension, allowances, etc.).
Performance, Engagement & Culture:
Roll out quarterly performance reviews with clear metrics and feedback tools.
Drive employee engagement initiatives and foster a cohesive culture across digital and on-ground teams.
Coordinate learning and development plans, internal upskilling, and leadership coaching.
Policy & Compliance:
Review and update employee handbooks, HR policies, and workplace protocols.
Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws, including NSITF, ITF, PAYE, and disciplinary procedures.
Act as an internal advisor on grievance handling, probation management, and exits.
Strategic Support:
Forecast hiring needs and develop succession plans in collaboration with business heads.
Advise on HR implications of growth initiatives such as team restructuring or operational expansion.
Track and report on HR metrics (attrition, engagement, headcount trends) for leadership review.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess relevant qualifications in a related field.
Must have 4 - 6 years of HR generalist or people operations experience.
Proven ability to scale teams and manage HR systems in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment.
Solid knowledge of Nigerian labor law and HR documentation standards.
CIPM certification (Associate level or higher).
Excellent communication, discretion, and people-management skills.
Bonus Points:
Experience working in or with startups, digital platforms, or field-heavy businesses.
Experience building HR infrastructure from scratch.
Familiarity with HR tools such as SeamlessHR, BambooHR, Zoho People, etc.
