Job Description
The Accountant / Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the firm’s financial records, overseeing property-related transactions, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and providing accurate financial reports to support business decisions.
The role also involves monitoring budgets, handling accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring the financial health of real estate projects and operations.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and property-related reports.
Ensure proper documentation of property sales, leases, and rental income.
Monitor and update ledgers for transactions.
Budgeting & Expense Management:
Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets for property projects and operations.
Track and control property management and operational expenses.
Provide variance analysis and recommendations to management.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Process invoices, vendor payments, and client receipts.
Reconcile accounts related to property sales, rent collection, and service charges.
Ensure accurate posting of all property-related transactions.
Bank & Cash Management:
Reconcile bank statements linked to property transactions and escrow accounts.
Monitor cash flow for property projects and operational activities.
Ensure proper handling of deposits, service charges, and petty cash.
Compliance & Audit Support:
Ensure compliance with tax laws, real estate financial regulations, and company policies.
Prepare necessary documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.
Support internal and external auditors with real estate-specific records.
Reporting & Analysis:
Provide regular financial reports on property performance and cash flow.
Analyse sales, rental income, and operational costs for insights.
Make recommendations to improve profitability and financial efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
2 years experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the real estate or property sector.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office tools, especially Excel.
Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards.
Skills / Competencies:
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting and analysis.
Familiar with real estate financial transactions and property accounting.
Detail-oriented with high accuracy in financial records.
Strong understanding of budgeting and cost control.
Knowledge of tax laws, compliance, and audit requirements.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
