Rec Room Wellness is a social enterprise dedicated to addressing the global mental health crisis by creating safe and brave spaces for relaxation, education, and fun. At our events, you will learn important topics to boost your awareness of your mental health, put words to feelings, and build resilience against the adversities of life. You will also practice self-care activities, learn new hobbies, and create connections with like-minded community members. We also offer wellness workshops for students and staff, longitudinal wellness cohorts, and in-person wellness events and retreats.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Curriculum Writer (Volunteer)
Location: Lagos
Objective
The Curriculum Writer develops structured educational content for Rec Room Wellness programs, including mental wellness sessions, workshops, and retreats.
This role ensures that all learning materials are evidence-based, engaging, and aligned with Rec Room Wellness’ mission and values.
Core Responsibilities
Design and write curriculum materials for workshops, retreats, and outreach programs.
Develop session plans, facilitator guides, and participant handouts.
Ensure content is age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and accessible.
Integrate wellness, mental health, and values-based education into all learning materials.
Collaborate with facilitators, program managers, and other content creators to ensure consistency across programs.
Research best practices in mental wellness, educational pedagogy, and community engagement.
Update existing curriculum based on feedback, emerging research, or program evaluation results.
Maintain alignment with Rec Room Wellness’ mission, values, and strategic objectives.
Workflow
Content Planning:
Receive program objectives from Wellness Programs Director.
Identify learning outcomes for participants.
Draft a curriculum outline for review.
Curriculum Drafting:
Develop lesson plans, activities, and materials.
Incorporate interactive exercises, reflections, and assessments.
Review & Feedback:
Submit drafts for review by the Wellness Programs Director.
Revise content based on feedback.
Finalization & Distribution:
Prepare final curriculum packages for facilitators.
Ensure materials are formatted and ready for both virtual and in-person delivery.
Expectations
Commitment to a minimum of 6 months, renewable by agreement.
Attend key planning and reflection meetings.
Deliver high-quality, accurate, and engaging content.
Meet agreed timelines for content submission.
Collaborate effectively with other team members and adapt to feedback.
Ensure inclusivity, sensitivity, and accessibility in all materials.
