Tech Support Volunteer at Rec Room Wellness

Rec Room Wellness is a social enterprise dedicated to addressing the global mental health crisis by creating safe and brave spaces for relaxation, education, and fun. At our events, you will learn important topics to boost your awareness of your mental health, put words to feelings, and build resilience against the adversities of life. You will also practice self-care activities, learn new hobbies, and create connections with like-minded community members. We also offer wellness workshops for students and staff, longitudinal wellness cohorts, and in-person wellness events and retreats.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Tech Support Volunteer

Location: Lagos

Objective

• To ensure smooth delivery of all virtual programs, webinars, and online sessions while maintaining the functionality and basic upkeep of Rec Room Wellness’ website. 

Core Responsibilities

• Provide technical support during live webinars, virtual wellness sessions, and online workshops.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with video/audio, presentation sharing, and platform functionality.
• Assist with the setup, testing, and management of webinar platforms.
• Perform basic website maintenance, including updating content, uploading materials, and monitoring functionality.
• Monitor online sessions to ensure a smooth participant experience and address issues promptly.
• Collaborate with facilitators and program managers to implement technical requirements for sessions.
• Maintain a knowledge base of recurring issues and solutions to improve efficiency.

Workflow
Pre-Session Setup:

• Test software, hardware, and internet connectivity.
• Prepare backups for presentations and other digital materials.

Live Session Support:

• Monitor participant access and engagement.
• Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time.
• Assist facilitators with screen sharing, polls, or breakout rooms.

Post-Session Tasks:

• Collect session recordings (where applicable) and ensure proper storage.
• Identify recurring technical issues and propose improvements.
• Perform website updates as needed.

Tools & Platforms:

• Webinar platforms (Google Meet)
• Website CMS (WordPress)
• Audio/Video equipment (microphones, cameras)
• Collaboration and ticketing tools 

Expectations

• Commitment to a minimum of 6 months, renewable by agreement.
• Attend key planning and reflection meetings.
• Respond promptly to technical issues before and during sessions.
• Ensure minimal disruption to participants’ experience.
• Communicate clearly with facilitators and team members regarding technical requirements or issues.
• Handle sensitive participant data with confidentiality and ethics.
• Uphold Rec Room Wellness’ mission, values, and focus on community transformation.

Requirements
Skills & Qualities:

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to track multiple tasks and follow up diplomatically.
• Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Other Requirements:

• An interest in mental wellness, service, and positive community building
• Consistency and reliability (5-10 hours weekly, depending on role)
• Good communication skills
