Content & Social Media Specialist at ALX Africa

Posted on Thu 26th Mar, 2026 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

ALX Africa, a non-profit organisation under the ALX Foundation, is dedicated to unlocking the potential of Africa's digital future. Formerly part of Sand Tech Holdings, we've embarked on an independent journey to provide world-class tech skills training and career acceleration programmes. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide, upskill and re-skill talent, and create a generation of innovative leaders. By 2030, we aim to empower 2 million Africans to secure sustainable tech careers.

With hubs in 8 cities across Africa and counting, we provide safe access to quality learning and a dedicated network of expert instructors. Our innovative programmes equip learners with the practical skills and knowledge needed to succeed in today's rapidly evolving tech industry. Through a combination of rigorous coursework, industry partnerships, and hands-on projects, we prepare our students for in-demand roles in software engineering, data science, and cybersecurity.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Content & Social Media Specialist

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • Do you believe that great content does more than entertain, it moves people closer to a decision?
  • Do you understand the difference between content that gets likes and content that drives enrolments and do you know how to build a strategy that delivers both?
  • Can you look at a social media dashboard and tell immediately what is working, what is performing for the wrong reasons, and what needs to change?
  • Do you have a genuine feel for how Nigerian young professionals consume content, what stops their scroll, and what makes them trust a brand enough to invest in it?
  • Can you write copy that sounds like a human being rather than a marketing department and do you do it quickly and consistently without needing three rounds of feedback to get it right?
  • Do you thrive in environments where the brief is sometimes imperfect, the timeline is always tight, and the best ideas come from paying close attention to the audience? If so, this might just be the role for you.

Role Summary

  • The Content & Social Media Specialist is responsible for shaping how ALX Nigeria communicates its value to the market through compelling storytelling and engaging digital content.
  • This role leads the development and distribution of content that educates prospective learners, builds trust in the ALX brand, and supports learner acquisition campaigns.
  • Working closely with the Growth Specialist and Performance Marketing Specialist, the Content & Social Media Specialist ensures that ALX programmes, learner stories, and outcomes are communicated clearly and compellingly across digital platforms.
  • The role combines content strategy, storytelling, social media distribution, and creator community development to strengthen ALX Nigeria’s digital presence and expand its reach across Nigeria’s technology and youth ecosystem.
  • The ideal candidate understands how content drives demand generation and can translate complex educational offerings into clear, relatable narratives that inspire action.
  • Success in this role requires both creativity and discipline; someone who can consistently produce engaging content while also creating moments that capture national attention and drive organic amplification.

Specific Responsibilities
Content Strategy and Copywriting:

  • Develop and execute a content strategy that clearly communicates the value of ALX programmes and inspires prospective learners to take action. ○ Craft compelling copy for: Social media posts, Marketing campaigns, Landing pages, Community engagement initiatives and Learner and alumni storytelling features
  • Translate complex programme offerings into clear, relatable narratives that resonate with young professionals and aspiring tech learners. Ensure content consistently reinforces ALX Nigeria’s positioning around digital skills, career transformation, and the future of work.

Content Creation and Mobile Production:

  • Produce engaging short-form video content using mobile devices, capturing authentic learner stories, programme highlights, and community experiences.
  • Maintain a consistent pipeline of video testimonials featuring learners, alumni, and instructors that showcase programme outcomes and career transformation.
  • Edit video content using mobile editing tools to enable rapid content production and distribution.
  • Prioritise formats that drive organic reach and engagement, particularly short-form video and authentic storytelling.
  • Maintain a consistent flow of high-quality visual and written content across social platforms.

Social Media Management:

  • Manage ALX Nigeria’s social media presence across key platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), and YouTube
  • Develop and maintain a structured content calendar aligned with marketing campaigns, programme launches, and community initiatives.
  • Monitor social media conversations and engage with audiences in ways that strengthen credibility and trust.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, tone, and storytelling across all social platforms.
  • Identify and expand ALX Nigeria’s presence into emerging or underutilised platforms where relevant audiences are active (e.g., Reddit, Pinterest, niche community forums), establishing credibility and meaningful engagement in new digital spaces.

Campaign Support:

  • Collaborate closely with the Performance Marketing Specialist to develop messaging and creative assets that support marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure campaign narratives align with growth objectives and audience needs.
  • Continuously refine messaging based on campaign performance insights and audience feedback.

Content Production Coordination:

  • Work closely with the Video Editor / Graphics Design Associate to produce high-quality visual and video content.
  • Coordinate content production pipelines to ensure a steady flow of creative assets for marketing campaigns and social media.
  • Maintain clear creative briefs and content planning processes to support efficient execution.

Audience Insights and Content Optimisation:

  • Monitor audience engagement and content performance to understand what messaging resonates most strongly with prospective learners.
  • Track and analyse metrics such as:
    • Engagement rates
    • Reach and impressions
    • Follower growth
    • Video completion rates
    • Use insights to continuously refine content strategy and storytelling effectiveness.

Creator Community and Ambassador Networks:

  • Build and nurture a community of creators who help tell and amplify the ALX story. This includes engaging: Learners, Alumni, Ambassadors, Community leaders & Student advocates
  • Develop structured creator programmes that encourage consistent storytelling around ALX programmes, learner journeys, and career outcomes.
  • Provide guidance, prompts, and creative direction to help creators produce authentic content aligned with ALX messaging.
  • Design repeatable formats for creator-led storytelling, including: Testimonial videos, Day-in-the-life content, Career transition stories, Programme highlights & Community challenges
  • Encourage learners and alumni to produce authentic content that expands ALX’s visibility through peer-to-peer storytelling.
  • Develop creator-led campaigns that increase organic reach and strengthen community participation.

High-Impact and Viral Content:

  • Create content designed for shareability and organic amplification. ○ Identify cultural moments, industry conversations, and social trends where ALX can participate authentically.
  • Experiment with storytelling formats capable of generating high-impact reach and viral engagement.
  • Develop content campaigns that capture attention across Nigeria’s youth, technology, and career communities

Requirements
Skill Requirements - Essential:

  • 5–7 years of experience in content marketing, social media strategy, or digital storytelling
  • Strong copywriting ability with a clear and persuasive narrative style
  • Demonstrated experience producing short-form video content
  • Basic graphic design ability using Canva or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of modern social media platforms and content formats
  • Familiarity with the Nigerian social media landscape across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Experience with email marketing or CRM-integrated content campaigns.
  • Experience creating content that supports marketing and growth objectives
  • Ability to combine creativity with strategic thinking
  • Adaptability: Comfort operating in an environment where priorities shift, products evolve, and the playbook is still being written. Someone who finds ambiguity energising rather than paralysing.
  • Collaborative Instinct: A natural inclination to share context, loop in the right people, and build on others' work rather than operating in isolation. Especially important in a small team where information hoarding slows everything down.
