We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Area Sales Officer - Modern Trade

Location: Mushin, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a results-driven and experienced Area Sales Officer – Modern Trade to manage and grow sales within assigned modern trade accounts and retail chains.
  • The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in FMCG or consumer goods sales, with strong expertise in key account management, relationship building, sales execution, and market expansion.
  • The role requires achieving sales targets, ensuring product visibility, and driving profitable growth across supermarkets, hypermarkets, and organised retail outlets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop relationships with modern trade customers, including supermarkets, hypermarkets, and retail chains.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets within the assigned territory.
  • Ensure effective product distribution, visibility, merchandising, and shelf availability across all accounts.
  • Negotiate product listings, promotions, pricing, and display agreements with retail partners.
  • Monitor sales performance, stock levels, and competitor activities within the market.
  • Coordinate with distributors and internal teams to ensure timely order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement trade marketing activities and promotional campaigns to increase brand awareness and sales.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, market reports, and performance analyses for management review.
  • Identify new business opportunities and support expansion into additional modern trade outlets.
  • Ensure compliance with company sales policies, pricing strategies, and merchandising standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in Modern Trade Sales, preferably within FMCG, beverages, or consumer goods industries.
  • Strong knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, and key account management.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to drive business decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts effectively.
