Adventure Capital is a venture capital investor focused on accelerating entrepreneurial companies, with activity in consulting and Nigeria's FinTech sector. Known for its involvement in high-growth, early-stage businesses, the firm notably invested in the Nigerian mobility startup Gokada.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Business Development Officer (Loan and Investment)

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

  • We are seeking a dynamic, target-driven, and results-oriented Business Development Officer to drive the growth of our Loans and Investment portfolio.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, acquiring clients, promoting loan and investment products, and building long-term customer relationships that contribute to the company's revenue and growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Acquisition:

  • Identify, prospect, and onboard new loan and investment clients.
  • Generate qualified leads through networking, referrals, field marketing, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve assigned targets.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective customers.

Loan Portfolio Growth:

  • Promote the company's loan products to SMEs
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of loan applications and customer eligibility.
  • Work closely with the Credit and Risk teams to facilitate loan processing and disbursement.
  • Monitor client repayment performance and support collections where necessary.

Investment Mobilization:

  • Market investment products and attract new investors.
  • Educate clients on available investment opportunities, returns, risks, and terms.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing investors to encourage renewals and additional investments.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Provide timely responses to customer inquiries and resolve issues professionally.
  • Conduct regular customer engagement activities to improve client retention and satisfaction.

Market Intelligence & Reporting:

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments.
  • Prepare periodic business development and sales performance reports.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for product and market expansion.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Value of loans originated and disbursed.
  • Investment funds mobilized.
  • Number of new clients acquired.
  • Portfolio quality and repayment performance.
  • Revenue generated from business development activities.
  • Client retention and relationship growth metrics.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Banking, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Loans, Investments, Microfinance, Fintech, Commercial Banking, or related sectors.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience in loan origination, investment mobilization, or financial services marketing is an added advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong sales, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Relationship management and customer service orientation.
  • Financial analysis and basic credit assessment knowledge.
  • Strong networking and prospecting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM tools.
