We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Head of School (Experienced)

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

About the Position

  • The Head of School will be responsible for the daily life and operations of the school/training centre, implementing the vision and mission of the school/training centre, plus adequately increasing and maintaining enrolment.

Responsibilities

  • Advancement of our model, vision and mission.
  • Manages the annual operating plan, sets short-term objectives, and measures progress and achievement against the annual objectives.
  • Trains and leads a highly qualified staff for achievement of the overall learning objectives and targets of each student.
  • Supervise the effective development of the educational program.
  • Increase enrolment through effective marketing and customer service.
  • Manage finances and provide input to the Management on its initiatives.
  • Be a strategic visionary and an asset to the Management.
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations, and discreetly helping to mitigate any conflict that may arise.
  • Helps determine the contractual objectives and obligations of other staff members, disseminate contracts, and collects signed contracts; write performance reports to review with employees and for use in Salary and Bonus decision process.
  • Oversees the development of technology for teaching and administrative purposes.
  • Develops the school/training centre calendar in collaboration with the Management and Staff.
  • Coordinates events with all appropriate parties in advance, and actively communicates to confirm events throughout the business year.
  • Works with all appropriate parties to ensure the safety of the school/training centre environment and facilities.
  • Communicates needs with Management, and collaboratively work with Management to define and execute upon a long-term facilities strategy.
  • Facilitates good stewardship of, and necessary improvements to the physical aesthetic of the training centre by reporting issues to the Management or responsible parties and tracking response.
  • Meeting with prospective students and parents, assessing student readi­ness and providing recommendations to the Management.
  • Writes monthly Management reports highlighting accomplishments, progress toward goals, specific concerns, and general updates.
  • Actively participates in Board meetings on a scheduled, monthly basis.
  • Where appropriate, and as directed by the Board, collaborates with and supports the Director in Advancement & Development initiatives, such as speaking at Open Day events, and meeting with other local educators.
  • Maintains an open-door policy to ensure parents feel welcome to discuss ideas and concerns.
  • Holds periodic Parent Coffees.

Requirements

  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree with a 2:1 or its equivalent; or a 2:2 with a very remarkable track record and demonstratable experience/skills (Note: Candidates who do not have any demonstratable and competitive advantage, please do not apply).
  • Master’s Degree in a related field is an added advantage.
  • Several years of experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated history of starting and growing a school or a top-class training centre.
  • Demonstrated history of effectiveness in leadership of a big private school.
  • Demonstrated acumen for mentoring and guiding the professional development of teachers.
  • Proven record of quickly assimilating into new environments, identifying areas for improvement and effect­ing change, while cultivating positive relationships.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Achievement orientated.
