About the Job

• FINCA is recruiting for a skilled and motivated Accounts Assistant to be a key team member for the Accounting Unit of the Finance Department in FINCA's regulated micro-finance bank start-up in Owerri, Nigeria. The Accounts Assistant reports to the Chief Accountant. S/he will be responsible for a wide variety of accounting activities including processing and reconciliation of invoices and related documents, preparation and processing of payments and funds disbursements, review and coding of financial information, preparing reports for management and maintaining records. This is a key support role in a new subsidiary of an international organization with excellent career development opportunities.

Essential Duties

• Preparation of monthly management reports on financial performance.
• Computation of provisions and month-end adjustments.
• Review & management of the fixed assets register.
• Reviewing of balance sheet schedules for improving the efficiency control of assets and liabilities.
• Management and reconciliations of intercompany receivables and payables.
• Preparation of statutory remittances.
• Computation of allowances (transport, airtime, etc.) for staff.

Education / Experience

• ND, HND/university degree preferably in Accounting (B.sc), Business Administration or any other related discipline. (ATS or Intermediate accounting Professional Examination level is an advantage).
• The candidate must possess good report writing and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and computerized accounting packages is a must.
• The candidate must have an Idea of what accounting is related to and must have work for at least 2 years.

Language Skills
Fluency in English, and at least 1 Local language

Travel Requirements
Availability to travel 5% of the time.
