Senior Manager, Media Relations and Operations at the Confederation of African Football (CAF)

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) was founded in 1957 by four nations: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and South Africa. As the administrative body of the region, CAF manages competitions, offers technical and administrative training courses while actively fostering the promotion and practice of football. The Confederation organizes championships such as the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN or AFCON), the most popular competition. It maintains very close links with FIFA in coordinating tournaments for different events such as the World Cup, Youth and Women competitions and the Olympic Games Football Tournaments.

Job Title: Senior Manager, Media Relations and Operations

Location: Cairo, Egypt (CAF Headquarters)

Job Description

• You believe you have the educational background and professional experience to elevate the organization to the highest international standards? CAF is looking to recruit a Senior Manager Media Relations and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute media relations plan to promote CAF programs, activities, campaigns, and events.
• Support the Communications Director in delivering the overall Communications Strategy.
• Develop and strengthen the relationship between CAF and Media.
• Identify and define the media landscape.
• Develop Messaging for CAF Campaigns and events.
• Coordinate the overall communication and promotion of CAF’S events and campaigns.
• Apply knowledge of communications and trends by providing advice, inputs, and recommendations to CAF.
• Contribute to the development of innovative media solutions for CAF.
• Plan, support, and implement the delivery of quality, professional, consistent, and efficient media relations services at all CAF competitions and events.
• Lead the development of procedures, guidelines, checklists, and support documentation related to media relations and operations at CAF centralized and decentralized events.
• Organize Media opportunities and activities such as: Press Conference, Media briefings, Interviews, etc.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of event media services and media operations.
• Liaise with all the relevant CAF departments to ensure that media relations, services and operations are included in the planning and execution of all CAF events and competitions.
• Be responsible for detailed planning and implementation of media facilities and services at all CAF competitions and events.
• Assist and support Local Organizing Committees in delivering media facilities as per CAF’s requirements.
• On-site event-time role will include overseeing the delivery of all media operations and being main point of contact to other CAF departments, local entities, and external suppliers in relation to media relations and media operations.
• Handle the procurement of technical services for media events.
• Budget planning and management.
• Coordinate Media Officers during centralized and decentralized events.

Event management/ Operations:

• Oversee the delivery of CAF competition(s) in the planning phase and on-site, acting as a media manager.
• Work with Accreditations Manager to facilitate Media Accreditation Process.
• Lead the Planning of Media Events.

Project management:

• Lead or support specific projects related media operations and media relations.
• Manage service providers and handle tenders and procurement procedures when necessary.
• Contribute to specific working groups within the communications department and across CAF.
• Bring added value by contributing innovative ideas to further enhance CAF’s approach to media relations and media operations.

Requirements (Pprofile)

• Bachelor or equivalent Degree in Communications, Media Relations, or similar.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in senior media relations role at international level.
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and other modern IT tools.
• Fluent in English and French languages both written and spoken is a must; command of any of the other CAF official languages (Arabic and/or Portuguese) is an asset.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Leader, team builder, strategic and conceptual thinker, service minded and able to understand the needs of the business.
• Resistance of stress.
• Willingness to travel anywhere, anytime whenever the work needs.
