The President, who is also Chairman of Governing Board of NASENI specifically, directed the management of the Agency to seek areas of collaboration with State Governors, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure that NASENI’s technology products and engineering infrastructure facilities are utilized for the socio-economic transformation of the Nigeria economy.

Governor Abubakar said at the weekend that Jigawa state’s doors are all open to NASENI interventions including all forms of technical cooperation between the Agency and the State in line with the presidential directive. The Governor at take-off specifically requested jigawa State Metropolis’ street lights to henceforth be powered by NASENI solar energy systems. The Governor believed that Solar energy will be cheaper than running the street lights currently on diesel generators.

The State government also asked NASENI to intervene in the upgrade of the State’s Agriculture processing plants scattered across the state including supply of science equipment and other science teaching aids to catch young pupils in Jigawa to become interested in science subjects.

Governor Abubakar said at the meeting his administration was more interested in investments in infrastructure facilities that would aid Jigawa State citizens to develop entrepreneurial orientation and cultivate the spirit of using science and technology innovations to tackle the socio-economic problems of the state.

The Governor added that he was aware that a genuine utilisation of science and technology resource was the only solution to assist the government create numerous job opportunities for the teaming youths of Jigawa State and also guarantee wealth creation for the people in general and by extension the nation at large. Therefore, he re-emphasised the State’s commitment to work with NASENI in all identified areas which he believed would lead to industrialisation of the State.

NASENI and Jigawa State would work together in several areas amongst which are: deployment of Advanced Manufacturing Technology in State’s industries,Solar Energy infrastructure development,Small Hydro turbines technology development, deployment of Science educational equipment, Agricultural machines and equipment manufacturing and deployment including transportation etc.Professor Haruna disclosed that all the aforementioned technologies and technical know-how have been perfected in the NASENI system.

The EVC/CE NASENI remarked that coincidentally,Jigawa State was the first state in the country to respond to the industrialisation tasks handed down to NASENI by President Muhammadu Buhari. Also the NASENI boss said he was amazed at the level of awareness demonstrated by the governor of Jigawa State about the potentials of utilizing science and technology resource to modernize the socio-economic activities of any society especially in alleviation of poverty.

NASENI he reaffirmed would, in collaboration with all its local and foreign partners, see to the actualisation of the dreams of improved socio-economic lives for the people of Jigawa by the Executive Governor using technology and that of Mr. President for the rest of the States in Nigeria respectively.
