Federal Ministry of Younth Decelopment - Following the approval of His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and in line with youth empowerment programme thrust under the Transformation Agenda of Mr. President, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) in conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invite applications from suitably qualified young Nigerians to participate in the Junior Professional Officers’ Programme (JPO-P)
The Junior Professional Officers’ Programme (JPO-P) was established in 1963 to provide young professionals pursuing a career in development with hands-on experience in multilateral technical cooperation. It is funded with donations from donor countries. Currently, there are 19 sponsors comprising 16 countries from Europe and 3 from Asia. The programme is administered by the JPO Service Center in Copenhagen. Denmark and initially for one year with possibility of extension for another one year, depending on satisfactory performance making a total of two years objective of the programme

Duties and responsibilities
Supports the Deputy Director in ensuring that critical activities envisaged by the BoM annual work plan for which the Deputy Director has been designated responsible are duly implemented.5%
Working with the Deputy Director, contributes to the implementation ofspecial projects led by her (e.g. BoM service delivery model, fast track strategy, pipe-line management, etc.). Coordinates with relevant project teams to ensure timely action and follow-up on commitments made. 25%
Participates in the BoM innovation group, makes proposals, as appropriate, on new ideas/innovative solutions that could be explored by BoM in different management areas. 10%
Conducts research and data analysis as an input into substantive discussions on institutional effectiveness and efficiency and innovation in operations management. 25%
Supports the drafting/drafts discussion papers, briefing notes, talking points, project proposals, etc. on issues in the Deputy Director’s portfolio.15%
Provides substantive support to organizing meetings of the Deputy Director, ensures availability of necessary documentation and capture of key agreements as well as follows up on their implementation with relevant staff. 10%
Liaises with relevant staff in the Directorate of BoM and other BoM Units to collect and analyze information necessary to ensure successful participation of the Deputy Director in corporate UNDP and inter-agency meetings. 5%

Qualifications and experience
Master’s Degree or equivalent Advanced Degree in a related field of expertise.
A minimum of two years of paid working experience in a relevant field.
Basic understanding / prior exposure to work within an international organization will be considered an asset.
Previous exposure to work in developing countries will also be considered an asset.
Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of French, Spanish or one other UN Language would be an asset.
Age: Must not be more than 32 years on the date of application
Information Technology skills, including word processing, database application (excel) presentation software (power point) and internet appreciation.
An interest in adapting to varied physical environments; and a desire to work with people with different language, national and cultural backgrounds;
Evidence of ability to think strategically, work independently and demonstrate a sense of self-assuredness.

Learning Expectations
Working in the Directorate of the Bureau of Management, the incumbent will get an exposure to various management issues and will have an opportunity to contribute to processes and discussions aimed at the development of new management solutions to respond to the needs of Country Offices and Regional Bureaus as well as business needs of UNDP at large.
